Florida Water Stories                                                                    Wednesday, April 3                                        6:30pm-8pm

Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd, Port St. Lucie.

Take a thought-provoking look at Florida’s long and sometimes difficult relationship with water with University of Florida master lecturer Dr. Steve Noll. Learn how and why Floridians re-shaped the state by turning land into water and water into land, and discover why Florida’s geography and natural history create water concerns more pressing than perhaps anywhere else in the nation. All ages welcome. RSVP Required. FREE.

An Overview of FAU- Harbor Branch                                      Thursday, April 4                                              7pm-9pm

Join the St. Lucie Audubon Society at the Oxbow Eco-Center as they host a lecture by Dr. Gabby Barbarite, from FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. She will be giving an overview of the history and current projects of FAU Harbor Branch. FREE. All are welcome. No registration required. OXBOW’S EARTH DAY FESTIVAL                                                Saturday, April 13                                            10am-3pm

The Oxbow Eco-Center will be hosting the 15th Annual Earth Day Festival! Join friends and neighbors in a celebration of all that wildlife and wild lands offer us --  beauty, inspiration, vital resources, and a sense of belonging to a community. This year, the Oxbow’s Earth Day Festival will be bigger and better than ever. We aim to increase and reinforce awareness, knowledge and stewardship of our natural resources, inspire individual and community commitment to conservation, highlight organizations and businesses committed to sustainability, and lastly but most importantly TO HAVE FUN and CELEBRATE OUR EARTH. All Ages Welcome! No Reservations Required. FREE EVENT.

 

Camp Riverlution                                                                             Friday, April 19                                                 9am-5am

Be a part of the River Revolution! Participants will engage in hands-on and feet-wet active endeavors while discovering unique aspects of our local waterways. This month we will be exploring the interconnections of animals, plants and people in the Indian River Lagoon. Pre-registration required. $30 per child.

 

Critter Crunch & Munch                                                               Saturday, April 20 & 27                                  3pm-4pm

Watch as Oxbow Eco-Center’s live animal ambassadors crunch and munch!  This special time includes an informative animal chat about native and exotic animals.  Appropriate for all ages. No reservations required.  FREE.

 

Guided Hike: Honoring Earth Day                                            Sunday, April 21                                               8:30am-10:30am

Join the SLC Environmental Resources Department and be a part of the action this Earth Day by taking a “care” hike the day before! Creatures big and small make this preserve their whole world, so we’ll show them some love by removing any refuse we encounter as we hike. Together we will look for seasonal wildflowers, tracts, scat, and listen for bird songs. Proper footwear and water are required. Gloves and trash bags provided. For ages 12 and up.
