What is Beanstack?
Beanstack is an online and app-based tool you can use to keep track of how much time you and your children spend reading, and which books you've read. You can check out and participate in the Library's reading challenges, like "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten," and sign up for reading recommendations. A single account can track reading for an individual or for a whole family.
Anyone planning to take part in the Library's Summer Reading Program should consider creating an account now so they'll be ready to go when the program begins. You can start tracking your reading right away. When the Summer Reading Program officially opens on June 1 you'll see it when you click on "Challenges." After you accept it as a challenge you'll find a reading log you can use to record your progress. The Beanstack log replaces the paper logs we've used in the past (though we'll still have paper logs for anyone who doesn't use Beanstack for any reason).
How do I sign up?
Use the app store for your phone or tablet to search for and install the "Beanstack Tracker" app from Zoobean, Inc. After installing it, (1) click on "Find your School or Library," (2) in the libraries category search for "lucie" and (3) select "St. Lucie County Library System." Then click on "Don't Have an Account? Sign Up!" and enter a username and password of your choice.
Or on a computer you can also use the browser version at https://stlucieco.beanstack.org.
If you have trouble with registering staff will be happy to help.
What is 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten?
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading initiative to encourage you to read 1,000 books with your child before they enter kindergarten. It's one of the "challenges" in Beanstack, which makes it easy to record the books you read and track your progress. Please note that this challenge will appear only for readers whose age has been entered as zero to 5.
