2019 FALL READING CHALLENGE

We've launched a Fall Reading Challenge via the Beanstack app!

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to read at least 15 minutes a day with the goal to read 750 minutes before Winter Break. Readers who took the Summer Reading Challenge just need to log back in and click on the new challenge link. The Challenge runs October 1 through December 14, 2019.

New readers can download the Beanstack app at the Apple Store or Google Play.

The type of book doesn’t matter. Students can read non-fiction, fiction or graphic novels. St. Lucie County Libraries have reading materials for all ages and interests. The simple act of reading for fun will stimulate your brain, expand your knowledge, increase your vocabulary, and it makes you happy! Track your reading and earn badges along the way. Challenge yourself to read for 750 minutes before Winter Break.

What is Beanstack?

Beanstack is an online and app-based tool you can use to keep track of how much time you and your children spend reading, and which books you've read. You can check out and participate in the Library's reading challenges, like "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten," and sign up for reading recommendations.  A single account can track reading for an individual or for a whole family.

How do I sign up?

Use the app store for your phone or tablet to search for and install the "Beanstack Tracker" app from Zoobean, Inc. After installing it, (1) click on "Find your School or Library," (2) in the libraries category search for "st. lucie" and (3) select "St. Lucie County Library System." Then click on "Don't Have an Account? Sign Up!" and enter a username and password of your choice.

Or on a computer you can also use the browser version at https://stlucieco.beanstack.org

If you have trouble with registering staff will be happy to help.

What is 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten?

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading initiative to encourage you to read 1,000 books with your child before they enter kindergarten.  It's one of the "challenges" in Beanstack, which makes it easy to record the books you read and track your progress.  Please note that this challenge will appear only for readers whose age has been entered as zero to 5.
