Note: The Pink Trail inside the Steven J. Fousek Preserve until further noticed to protect nesting wildlife. The Pink Trail, which is the primary horse trail around the outer perimeter of the 420-acre site, will remain closed until the nesting wildlife has hatched and moves off the trail. (Posted 7-12-19)

Park Information

This 80-acre site preserves a unique hammock with archaeological significance. A one-mile self-guided interpretive trail leads through a very old forest of elms, oaks and palms. An elevated observation deck overlooks a marsh.

Trails: (1) mile self-guiding interpretive trail leads you through the hammock.
Habitiat: A mix of several habitats including: Hammock with some very old Hickory, Florida Elm, Sugarberry, Live Oak, Laurel Oak, Depression Marsh and basin swamp.
Commonly seen wildlife: Deer, turkey, ibis, heron, barred owl, cardinal, mockingbird, catbird and flycatcher.

Historical Interest A known archaeological site.

 

Note: Site is connected to other adjacent Preserves to the east and west.

Warning: Removing artifacts or disturbing archaeological sites is prohibited by state statute and local ordinance.
