Savannas Recreation Area
The Savannas Recreation Area welcomes visitors to one of St. Lucie County's most distinctive natural spaces, offering a peaceful blend of outdoor adventure, wildlife viewing, and family recreation. This 550-acre preserve protects one of the last remaining freshwater savanna ecosystems along Florida's East Coast, creating an environment where marshes, flatwoods, scrub habitat, and open water come together in a setting that feels timeless and wild.
At the heart of the property sits the Trading Post, a restored early Florida "Cracker House" believed to date to the turn of the twentieth century. Today it serves as the campground office and a welcoming spot for guests to check in, relax on the wraparound porch, and enjoy wide views of the wetlands. The Savannas is open year-round and offers opportunities for camping, paddling, fishing, picnicking, and easy access to trails and wildlife.
Visitors may explore the property daily from sunrise to sunset, with access to the fishing piers, canoe and kayak rentals, the dog park, and the nature trails. Camping registration and pavilion reservations can be made in person at the Trading Post or by calling 772-464-7855 during business hours.
