Ocean Bay Preserve

This 53-acre preserve includes both an oceanside and a riverside section.

The oceanside is overseen by Parks and Recreation and features a paved parking lot along with two small trails that provide access to the beach. The riverside area, located 2 miles north on the west side of A1A, is managed by Mosquito Control and functions as a mosquito impoundment. Here, visitors can take advantage of a multipurpose dike trail and a 200-foot fishing pier.

Trail and Habitat

Trail
Easy. Experience two short nature trails that lead to the beach on the oceanside and a mile multipurpose trail on the riverside.
Habitat
A very good example of a mature beach dune system with sea grape, wild lime, cabbage palm and a variety of stoppers.
Commonly seen wildlife
Brown pelican, sanderlings, bottlenose dolphin, and gopher tortoise

Historical Interest

The Sabellariid wormrock is located immediately offshore and provides a unique snorkeling experience. Please refrain from standing or walking on the reef.

Before You Go

Dogs are not allowed in this beachside preserve. Walton Rocks offers a fantastic alternative for bringing your furry companions.
