County Attorney
The County Attorney's Office provides legal advice, legal counsel, and legal representation to the Board of County Commissioners, County Administration, and various boards and committees created by the Board of County Commissioners on substantive legal issues involving such matters as the regulation, use, and development of land; contracts, bidding, and purchasing requirements; personnel compliance with State and Federal regulations; utility and general administrative issues; and litigation.
In addition, the County Attorney supervises the Criminal Justice Director.

Criminal Justice Director
In August 2005, the County Attorney was assigned the responsibility of supervising the Criminal Justice Director. This position has been implementing priorities established by the Public Safety Coordinating Council and the County. Additionally, the Criminal Justice Director is responsible for implementing the criminal justice system assessment action plan and carrying out the County's directives, which include, but are not limited to, gathering data, implementing initiatives and coordinating task forces. Furthermore, this position identifies areas that need improvement and develops strategies that impact the criminal justice system. The Director's responsibilities include oversight of programs, such as Pre-trial/GPS Program, Criminal Case Manager Program, Juvenile Detention Center, Juvenile Assessment Center, Data Exchange Projects, and the Criminal Justice Information Systems Position.
