Florida’s Treasure Coast Unites for “Locals Only” Deals
As the Treasure Coast transitions into the slower travel season, Visit St. Lucie—along with its partners in Martin and Indian River counties—is excited to celebrate the third year of the “Locals Only” initiative featuring exclusive deals and offers exclusive only to residents of the Treasure Coast region. This collaborative program includes a dedicated landing page with special offers available only to residents of St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin Counties. This program is available at the Florida Treasure Coast website. From hotel discounts to attraction promos and great deals at area restaurants, these locals-only deals are designed to boost visitation during off-peak times and invite residents to experience more of what their community has to offer.
Don’t Miss St. Lucie County’s Family Fitness Challenge at Lawnwood Stadium
St. Lucie County’s Parks & Recreation staff is proud to present a free Family Fitness Week Challenge: A five-day community event designed for guardians and children of all ages to come together and enjoy fun, fitness and healthy living, July 6 through July 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Lawnwood Stadium.
Each day features a different activity, including:
• Cardio Challenge on Day 1 (Monday, July 6): A one-mile walk/jog/run with relay races and family challenges;
• Full-Body Circuit Workout on Day 2 (Tuesday, July 7): Circuit-style cardio stations and fun family challenges;
• Guardian & Child Partner Workout on Day 3 (Wednesday, July 8): Team mile with activities and family challenges;
• Family Fitness Challenge on Day 4 (Thursday, July 9): Eight fitness stations and a family relay race;
• Family Fun Run & Celebration on Day 5 (Friday, July 10): Family mile, relay race and victory lap.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice healthy habits through engaging activities and cardio workouts while building stronger family connections. Registration assistance is available by calling the Havert L. Fenn Center during business hours, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 772-462-1521.
St. Lucie County Parks & Recreation Launches Its First-Ever Youth Chess Club
St. Lucie County Parks & Recreation staff is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever Youth Chess Club at the Havert L. Fenn Center in partnership with Atlantis Chess Club, beginning Monday, June 15. Designed for ages 6–17, the program will provide participants with opportunities to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration and sportsmanship skills while learning and competing in the game of chess.
Program Schedule:
• Mondays (starting June 15) from 6 to 7:45 p.m. for ages 6 to 12
• Wednesdays (starting June 17) from 6 to 7:45 p.m. for ages 13-17.
The cost to participate is $80 per child for a monthly membership, $20 per child for the drop-in rate and $50 for tournaments. Registration is available through Atlantis Chess Club at https://atlantischessclub.com.
