Treasure Coast Community Action Agency
Moving families beyond poverty
Mission: To partner with other human services organizations to aid residents in need of assistance with targeted services, resources and guidance to foster self-sufficiency and independence.
Overview: Treasure Coast Community Action Agency (TCCAA) offers unique, targeted services to help St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee County residents achieve self-sufficiency. Using Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) funding, TCCAA provides various services to residents of St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee Counties. The services provided by each county are based on a Community Needs Assessment.
TCCAA has two goals:
- To assist income-eligible households in St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee Counties in becoming self-sufficient.
- To reduce the number of households in St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee Counties living at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
To help achieve these goals, CSBG funding is used to provide targeted programs and services.
An Advisory Board meets quarterly to oversee the programs for the tri-county area. The meetings are publicized, and the public is welcome to attend. The Advisory Board consists of representatives from the tri-county area, staff members, and the public. Three representatives, one from each of the following categories, are required:
- One elected official, currently holding office or a designated representative that must be appointed annually by each County.
- One representative from each County of the low-income population chosen by a democratic selection procedure adequate to assure that they are representative of the poor in the areas served.
- One representative from each County of business, industry, labor, religious, education, or other major groups and interests in the community served.
