Community Services Divisions

One department, several ways St. Lucie County helps residents move forward.

St. Lucie County Community Services helps residents improve their quality of life through information, resources, and direct services. The department supports the County Commission's focus on a thriving community and on health and safety, with programs spanning housing stability, veteran assistance, homelessness response, and access to social services. By working with local nonprofits, state and federal agencies, and regional partners, staff put grant funding to work toward real results: stronger public trust, a more resilient community, and lasting opportunity for residents.

Human Services works with residents reaching for self-sufficiency, with help on employment, GED prep, identification and birth certificates, case management, and referrals to community partners.

Housing runs state and federal programs that preserve and expand affordable housing for low and moderate income households, including purchase assistance and owner-occupied rehabilitation.

Veteran Services is staffed by accredited officers who help veterans and their families claim earned VA benefits, from compensation and pension claims to health care and education, plus free transportation to the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.

Homelessness services run through the county's partnership with the Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council, the lead agency for the local Continuum of Care. The county funds programs that connect residents to safe, sanitary shelter and the services that go with it.
