From the dispatch desk to the dais, Jamie Lee Fowler’s career is a masterclass in the "climb the ladder" success story. A longtime resident of Port St. Lucie, Jamie built her reputation on grit, moving from an entry-level dispatcher at Tri-County Towing to the Operations and Community Outreach Manager for Tri-County Enterprises, LLC.
For more than two decades, she didn’t just witness growth—she engineered it. By mastering the complexities of procurement, project management and emergency response, she helped scale a local business into a multi-million-dollar powerhouse, eventually becoming one of the largest privately owned towing operations in South Florida.
Four years ago, Jamie pivoted that private-sector efficiency toward public service. Now, having almost completed her first full term as a St. Lucie County Commissioner, Jamie has proven that a "fresh perspective" can yield concrete results.
Jamie’s personal journey is one of timing and deep-rooted connection. She and her husband, Scott, first met years ago as high school students in Vermont. Though life eventually took them down separate paths, fate and a little help from social media reconnected them in 2018.
Their wedding story is a testament to their adaptability. In 2020, when the pandemic forced the cancellation of all their original wedding festivities, Jamie and Scott refused to wait. Instead, they chose a more personal path: getting married in their own front yard with Lara Trump officiating and their extended family watching the ceremony via Zoom. Their family grew in 2023 with the arrival of their son, Easton Cole. Becoming a mother has only sharpened Jamie’s focus on ensuring St. Lucie County remains a safe and affordable place for every child to grow up.
- Protecting our Children: Jamie spearheaded the ordinance for school zone speed cameras, implementing automated detection for motorists traveling 10 mph over the limit during active school hours. Through her participation with U-ACT (United Against Children Trafficking), all of the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners’ 800+ employees will continue to receive training in spotting and reporting signs of human trafficking. This makes St. Lucie County the first county in Florida to receive the 100 Percent Club designation.
- Holding Power Accountable: Standing up for homeowners, Jamie engaged county staff to bring predatory contractors before the Licensing Board. Her advocacy led to the delicensing of bad actors, ensuring residents are protected from fraud.
- Investing in the Future: In 2024, she launched the "Shadow the Commissioner" program, a youth development program that provides high school and 4-H students with a front-row seat to local government.
- Property Rights & Right-of-Way: Tired of seeing residents surprised by construction, Jamie championed a new Right-of-Way permit notification. Utility providers now have to pay for their permits and can no longer just dig up your yard. Now, landowners must be notified before work begins.
- 24/7 Animal Control: Recognizing that emergencies don't just happen during business hours, Jamie pushed for and achieved a 24/7 response model for Animal Control to ensure our pets and community are protected around the clock.
- Professional Excellence: Jamie earned her Certified County Commissioner (CCC) and Advanced County Commissioner (ACC1) designations, blending 20 years of business experience with specialized training in Florida statutes and ethics.
