St. Lucie County Libraries Celebrating National Novel Writing Month
Everyone has a story to tell. Why not finally write yours? National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a month-long event in November in which people all over the world commit to writing a 50,000-word novel in 30 days. It's a great challenge, a ton of fun and a fantastic way to beat writer's block and get on the path to creating a complete work of fiction. Oh, and it's a perfect event to participate in at the library.
The St. Lucie County Library System is kicking off NaNoWriMo on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Morningside Branch, 2410 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie, and on Friday, Oct. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort Pierce Branch, 101 Melody Lane.
At the kick-off events, a trained facilitator will get you fired up, provide a practical outline and real tips for getting those 50,000 words out of your head and onto the page.
Ongoing weekly peer support will be available. Drop-in and join other writers every week in an informal space to write, schmooze, and get your novel on the page. Wi-Fi, beverages, snacks, dictionaries and companionship provided. It’s B.Y.O.L. (bring your own laptop), everything else included!
Writer’s Hours @ the Library will be held in November:
- Every Tuesday at Morningside Branch from noon-7:30 p.m.
- Every Friday (except Nov. 27) at the Fort Pierce Branch from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
- Every Saturday during at Fort Pierce Branch from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
