Carve Some Pumpkins, Take a Hike at the Oxbow Eco-Center Oct. 8
Get into the Halloween spirit at the Oxbow Eco-Center on Saturday, Oct. 8 with a Little Tyke Hike and the Annual Pumpkin Carving Workshop.
Sharpen your skills at the 5th annual pumpkin carving workshop starting at 10 a.m., where participants will go beyond carving eye-shaped holes by learning to carve embossed, three-dimensional pieces of art. The Treasure Coast Art Association will show you how to use tools as simple as kitchen knives or as specialized as gouges and chisels. The class is designed for adults and children ages 10 and older. The cost of this class is $20 and includes all supplies. Please register by Friday, Oct. 7 to secure your spot and pumpkin by calling 772-785-5833 or emailing email@example.com.
For the little ones, break out the costumes and get revved up for Halloween at 2 p.m. with costumed Tyke Hike. Little Tykes will hike a short trail to meet Frankie, our not-so-scary scarecrow, and sing some not-so-scary songs. After the hike, stay and enjoy popcorn and watch our Oxbow critters eat their favorite snack. The Little Tyke Hike is appropriate for ages 2- 6 with an adult. This program is free.
Located at 5400 NE St. James Drive in Port St. Lucie, the Oxbow Eco-Center is a St. Lucie County Environmental Learning Center encompassing roughly 225 acres along the St. Lucie River. For more information visit www.oxboweco.com.
