St. Lucie County's Communications Division is always looking for ways to reach residents and visitors, whether it is through our websites, government access channel (SLCTV Comcast 28 / U-Verse 99), social media, mobile apps or traditional media outlets such as newspapers and television stations.

Have a Hoot on the Oxbow’s Owl Prowl Nov. 27

Oxbow OwlFind out what goes “hoot!” in the night with Jerry Walls and the Oxbow Eco-Center on Friday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. for a special Owl Prowl night hike.

Let the full moon illuminate your leisurely hike as you search and listen for the natives of the night.  Barred, great horned, screech and barn owls might be some of the species you will hear and see silently swooping through the wilds of the Oxbow.

Appropriate for ages 10 and older, the cost is $5 per person. Pre-registration is required: 772-785-5833 or

Walls is a professional naturalist, birding guide and has served as the Chief Naturalist for the City of Houston, Texas.  He has also appeared on numerous network television programs across the southeast U.S., including “Carolina Safari” on CBS, talking about amazing animals. He is passionate about sharing the wonders of nature with others of all ages.
