Save the Chimps Tour!

I had the incredible opportunity to tour Save the Chimps, a sanctuary in St. Lucie County that provides lifelong care for over 200 rescued chimpanzees. Seeing their dedication firsthand was both inspiring and heartwarming. The staff’s passion for giving these intelligent animals a safe, peaceful environment is truly admirable. It’s a hidden gem in our community doing life-changing work.

Community Highlights

 

Joined fellow elected officials for the ribbon cutting of the heart sculpture in Tradition, now recognized as the largest heart sculpture in the world at an astounding 73 feet tall. This breathtaking installation is more than just a visual landmark- it represents the spirit of unity, love, and community that defines St. Lucie County.

2025 Budget Workshops

As I complete my first year serving as your St. Lucie County Commissioner, I’ve had the opportunity to take part in my first round of budget workshops. These sessions are a vital part of the process where we evaluate county priorities, allocate resources, and ensure that your tax dollars are being used effectively. It’s been an eye-opening and rewarding experience to help shape a budget that reflects the needs and values of our community.

Touring the St. Lucie County Landfill with Assistant Public Utilities Director Gregory Atkinson was nothing short of amazing! I received a behind-the-scenes look at how the county handles waste on a large scale. It was impressive to see the level of planning, technology, and care that goes into keeping our landfill running efficiently and safely. From environmental protections to future expansion the visit highlighted just how much work goes into keeping our community clean and sustainable.

 

 

2025 FAC Annual Conference & Educational Exhibition

Honored to graduate from the Florida Association of Counties Certified County Commissioner Program during this year’s FAC 2025 Conference in Orlando. In addition to completing the 47-hour certification, I had the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops and hear from incredible guest speakers who shared valuable insights on leadership, innovation, and public service. I’m committed to using what I’ve learned to better serve the people of St. Lucie County.

Back to School Event with the Boys & Girls Club

I had the honor of joining the Boys & Girls Club for an incredible event where we helped distribute over 250 laptops and backpacks filled with school supplies to local students. It was a privilege to stand alongside fellow elected officials, including St. Lucie County Commissioner Larry Leet and Fort Pierce Commissioner Curtis Johnson, Jr. A heartfelt thank you to William Armstead, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club, and his amazing team for putting together such an impactful event. A big thanks as well to AT&T for their generous donation of laptops and supplies. It’s truly inspiring to witness our community come together to support and invest in the next generation.

 

 

 

 

Tour of IRSC’s Workforce Programs

Recently, we had the opportunity to tour Indian River State College’s (IRSC) Eastman Advanced Workforce Training Complex and were impressed by the significant strides the college has made in expanding workforce programs. The state of the art facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology and hands-on training spaces that are preparing students for high demand careers in manufacturing, welding, robotics, and more. IRSC’s commitment to aligning education with industry needs is clearly making a powerful impact on our region’s economic future.

 

 

 

Spotlight on Achievements

St. Lucie County bids farewell to a true public servant. After more than four decades of dedicated legal service, County Attorney Daniel S. McIntyre will retire on August 29. Since joining the county in 1985, Mr. McIntyre has played a pivotal role in shaping St. Lucie’s government operations and legal framework. He has served under 30 different County Commissioners and helped lead the county through landmark initiatives. From environmental land preservation to securing the state's seventh veterans nursing home and even stepped up as acting county administrator on three separate occasions. Recognized statewide, Mr. McIntyre received the Ralph A. Marsicano Award for his significant contributions to local government law in Florida. We thank Mr. McIntyre for his unwavering commitment and wish him the very best in his well-earned retirement.

 

 

 

St. Lucie County Employee Spotlight

 

Mr. Revord has worked for St. Lucie County for over nine years and is a registered professional engineer in Florida. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology and a master's in Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering from the University of Florida. A long-time resident of the county, he lives in St. Lucie with his wife Madison and their five sons.

He currently serves as Director of PIB and is active on several boards, including the Florida Shore and Beach Preservation Association (FSBPA), Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development (FSTED) Council—where he chairs the Seaport Environmental Management Committee—and the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast (MIATC). He also chairs the County’s Resiliency Steering Committee.

Mr. Revord advises County leadership on beach, inlet, and port development, overseeing projects from planning through completion. He is excited about upcoming federal beach projects at Fort Pierce and South County Beaches, new developments at Harbour Pointe and Museum Pointe Parks, and ongoing collaboration with Derecktor Shipyards to grow the Port of Fort Pierce as a hub for the mega-yacht industry.
