St. Lucie County Parks & Recreation Launches Its First-Ever Youth Chess Club
FORT PIERCE – St. Lucie County Parks & Recreation staff is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever Youth Chess Club at the Havert L. Fenn Center in partnership with Atlantis Chess Club, beginning Monday, June 15.
Designed for ages 6–17, the program will provide participants with opportunities to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration and sportsmanship skills while learning and competing in the game of chess.
Chess is a timeless game that encourages strategic thinking, patience, and confidence, and staff look forward to introducing more young people to the benefits of the game.
Program Schedule:
- Mondays (starting June 15) from 6 to 7:45 p.m. for ages 6 to 12
- Wednesdays (starting June 17) from 6 to 7:45 p.m. for ages 13-17.
The cost to participate is $80 per child for a monthly membership, $20 per child for the drop-in rate and $50 for tournaments. Registration is available through Atlantis Chess Club at the Atlantis Chess Club site.
