From the Commissioner's Desk
Hello friends, it's been a wonderful month of events, from the County Fair to tea with the ladies and plenty of beach updates. Next month, you'll notice some changes to the newsletter. We're moving toward a more interactive, webpage-style format instead of the traditional PDF. Stay tuned! I'd also like to take a moment to wish you and your families a very Happy Easter.
American Red Cross Month
I had the honor of speaking about this year's efforts to support the Whispering Creek and Colonial Park Mobile Home communities in Fort Pierce. Kudos to the American Red Cross for the incredible work they do to keep families safe. In recognition of their impact, St. Lucie County also issued a proclamation naming March as American Red Cross Month. Together with the St. Lucie County Fire District, Emergency Management, community partners, and dedicated Red Cross volunteers, we're working to install free 10-year smoke alarms and provide fire safety education and escape plans for local families.
2026 St. Lucie County Fair
It started with Ribbon-Cutting Day and wrapped up with Leadership Class Alumni Day. Always a pleasure connecting with county leaders and colleagues while celebrating the festivities at the St. Lucie County Fair.
Heathcote Botanical Gardens Ladies' Tea Event
I had the best time at the Ladies Tea event at Heathcote Botanical Gardens, soaking in all the beautiful surroundings with Veronica Kolibab and Terissa Aronson. Thank you, ladies!
Coffee with the Chair
It's always great to sit with Terissa Aronson for our monthly Coffee with the Chair. This month was all things Public Utilities & Solid Waste with our Director, Rebecca Ventrella, as my guest.
Pawsitive Spotlight!!
My name is Toyota, because if reliability were a dog, it would be me! I'm 5 years old, built solid, a little loud, and fully loaded with energy, loyalty, and about 85 pounds of "I definitely think I'm a lap dog." I'm a big boy with an even bigger personality. I wake up every day like it's the best day ever invented. Walk? YES. Treat? ABSOLUTELY. Random noise outside? Already on patrol. I take my role as Head of Household Security very seriously, even if the "threat" is just a suspicious leaf. Don't let the tough muscles fool you. Under this sturdy exterior is a soft, snuggly heart that runs purely on love. Sit down for even a second, and I'll gently (or not-so-gently) merge right into your lap. Personal space? Not included with this model. Energetic, affectionate, and loyal to the core, I'll follow you anywhere, no GPS required. I'm not just a good boy. I'm a full-size, cuddle-powered companion with unlimited miles of devotion left to give.
St. Lucie County Beaches
I want to give an extra shoutout to our Director of Port, Inlet & Beaches, Joshua Revord, and his team for their hard work and dedication to our ongoing beach renourishment efforts. Josh took us out to see the dredging process and provided a great update on all things beach-related. Beach erosion is a real issue, and this team has been working tirelessly to help maintain St. Lucie County’s 21 miles of beautiful beaches.
