Public learns about Tilton Road Drainage Improvement Project

Drainage improvements are coming to the Tilton Road area.
St. Lucie County shared details about the project at a public meeting April 29 at Oxbow Eco-Center. About 20 attendees met with County staff and members of the project team. They had the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and learn about the work, which could begin within the next two months.
The first phase of this project was completed in 2024 and included construction of new drainage structures as well as the grading of roadside drainage swales.
This phase will consist of the construction of two retention ponds, the reconstruction of Silver Oaks Drive from Tilton Road to Dyer Road, sidewalks, and new drainage structures at the outfall to Hogpen Slough Canal.
These swales, retention ponds, and related structures will help direct stormwater runoff away from homes, protecting people and property during heavy rainfall events.
