St. Lucie County Libraries Kick Off February with Free Just for Kids Programs

low section of teacher with children reading books at a libraryST. LUCIE COUNTY – The St. Lucie County Library System is hosting a full calendar of youth-focused events this February, ranging from Be My Neighbor Day to specialized S.T.E.A.M. workshops.

Youth special events for February include:

  • Kids’ Crafternoon: Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Participants will enjoy an afternoon of crafting with all materials supplied. This event is best suited for kids ages 8 to 12.

  • Pajama Tales: Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Families are invited to join in their pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories. Best suited for ages up to 5 years.

  • Take Your Child to the Library Day: Saturday, Feb. 7 at all branches. It is fun, free and family-friendly with children’s events happening at all our branches.

  • Scavenger Hunt: Saturday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch and the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Stop in during regular business hours and see if you can find all the clues.

  • Kids Crafternoon: Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Join us in some crafting fun with all supplies provided. Best suited for ages 5 and older.

  • LEGOs and More: Saturdays, Feb. 7 and 21 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Lakewood Park Branch. Join us for building with LEGO bricks along with cards, board games and crafts.

  • Early Release Day LEGOs and More: Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Build with LEGO bricks along with cards, board games and crafts.

  • Family Game Night: Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Join us for some good old-fashioned board game fun in a family event for parents and children, where you can bring your own family game or use ours.

  • Be My Neighbor Day: Saturday, Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Morningside Branch. This free, family engagement celebration created by Fred Rogers Productions and presented by South Florida PBS is inspired by the timeless values of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and nurtures kindness, literacy and community service. Families will enjoy an uplifting morning focused on being good neighbors, building community connections, and encouraging a lifelong love of reading.

  • LEGO Fun at the Library: Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Enjoy building with LEGO bricks in the library. Best suited for elementary age kids.

  • Baby & Me Storytime: Saturday, Feb. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Morningside Branch. Babies, books and buddies. Best suited for infants up to 18 months.

  • Kids’ Crafternoon: Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch. We will create sensory glow jars to take home and enjoy with all supplies provided. Best suited for ages 5 to 11.

  • S.T.E.A.M. Power!: Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch, Saturday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Zora Neale Hurston Branch, and Thursday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art and math in fun ways to learn about weather, rainbows, color, motion and more. Best suited for students in grades K-5.

Tweens & Teens Programs:

  • Come Through and Chill: Thursdays, Feb. 5, 19, and 26 at 4:30 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Come chill at the library and enjoy a variety of fun activities with all materials supplied. Best suited for ages 11 to 18.

  • Tween Crafternoon: Saturday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Join us for some crafting fun with all supplies provided. Best suited for ages 8 and older.

  • Anime Multimedia Club: Thursday, Feb. 12 at 4:15 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Meet up with friends and share your passion for all things anime and manga. Best suited for tweens and teens ages 11 and older.

  • Teen Coding Club: Thursday, Feb. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Work alone or together in a casual setting to code and learn from each other using your own device or ours. Best suited for ages 11 to 18.

  • Teen Gaming Tournament: Saturday, Feb. 14 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of video game excitement in this competitive Nintendo Switch tournament, where players compete for victory. Best suited for ages 11 to 18.

  • Teen/Tween Crafternoon: Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 4:15 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Join us for a fun afternoon of crafting with a variety of supplies provided, where you can follow along with a new craft or work on your own project.

  • Artist Trading Cards: All month long at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Teens and young adults are invited to create their very own trading card to challenge themselves to fit creativity on a card that we will put on display.

Weekly Story Times at 10:30 a.m.:

  • Family Storytime: Mondays at the Pruitt Campus Library Branch and Tuesdays at the Lakewood Park Branch. Designed for ages up to 5 years old, but all ages are welcome.

  • Baby & Me: Tuesdays at the Paula A. Lewis Branch and Fridays at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch. Babies, books and buddies in a storytime followed by open playtime. Best suited for infants up to one year.

  • Storytime Jam: Wednesdays at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch and Fridays at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Reading and Rhythm where kids clap, dance, and listen to stories. For kids ages 3 to 5.

  • Bilingual Story Time Jam: Thursdays at the Paula A. Lewis Branch.

  • Music & Motion for Kids: Wednesdays at the Morningside Branch and Paula A. Lewis Branch and Fridays at the Lakewood Park Branch. Action songs, movement, singing, and fun for kids under 6 with a caregiver.

  • Pre-school Storybook Craft: Thursdays at the Lakewood Park Branch and the Zora Neale Hurston Branch. Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to listen to stories, then join their parents and caregivers for a related craft.

  • Tales & Play: Fridays at the Morningside Branch. Children ages up to 5 and their caregivers are invited for a story time and open playtime afterward.

  • Lakewood Park Branch: 7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Fort Pierce, Fla. 34951. Hours: Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Morningside Branch: 2410 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Fla. 34952. Hours: Tuesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Paula A. Lewis Branch: 2950 SW Rosser Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Fla. 34953. Hours: Monday and Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Pruitt Campus Library Branch: 500 N.W. California Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Fla. 34986. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Port St. Lucie Branch: 180 SW Prima Vista Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Fla. 34983. Note: This location is currently under construction.

  • Zora Neale Hurston Branch: 3008 Avenue D, Fort Pierce, Fla. 34947. Hours: Tuesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
