PORT ST. LUCIE – Explore and learn in the natural world at Oxbow Eco-Center’s popular Ecology Academy. Three unique sessions are scheduled from October through December for homeschool students in kindergarten through 5th grade.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.: “Wildlife Friends & Foes.” Meet St. Lucie's backyard wildlife. Compare how native, exotic and invasive plants and animals interact with local ecosystems. Are they friends or foes?
  • Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.: “Florida History & Habitats.” Travel back in time on this fun, interactive journey. Experience events in Florida’s history from a human and wildlife perspective while exploring the Oxbow Preserve.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m.: “Let’s Talk Trash.” What happens when we throw trash away? Where is “away”? Take a closer look at our garbage habits and discover what really happens to our trash. Does nature make trash?

Pre-registration is required at least five days prior to each program. Fees are $5 per participant, per session, and space is limited. For additional details and registration, visit the St. Lucie County Oxbow Eco-Center & Preserve Homeschool Programs webpage.
