In partnership with Indian River State College and St. Lucie County Public Schools, the Sunshine Kitchen will pair up students from each organization to compete for $1,500 in scholarships.
The competition prep work will begin at 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 28, while cooking starts at 10:05 a.m. Judging will take place at 11:05 a.m. and awards will be presented at noon
The categories/winning divisions included:
- Plate Appearance
- Taste/Flavor
- Teamwork/Cooperation
- Proper Cooking Procedures
- Knife Skills
- Degree of Difficulty
- Sanitation/Food Safety
Each student of the winning team will receive a $1,500 scholarship, which is awarded with funding provided by the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners. Scholarships will be paid to the St. Lucie County Public Schools Education Foundation and the Indian River State College Education Foundation.
The public is invited to attend and enjoy this free event. Those interested in attending should make reservations by emailing Sunshine Kitchen Manager Regina McCants at Regina.McCants@stlucieco.gov before Friday, Oct. 17. Refreshments will be provided by students enrolled in culinary programs through the St. Lucie Public School District.
