The United Veterans of St. Lucie County
is a not for profit organization committed to helping veterans in need and representing St. Lucie County veterans.
Working together with the St. Lucie County Veteran Services Department, they co-chair the Veterans Golf Classic held each year in the Spring at Fairwinds Golf Course, Ft. Pierce.
With a focus on sharing information beneficial to veterans and their dependents,the membership promotes a better quality of life for all veterans living in St. Lucie County.

United Veterans Volunteers of the Year - 2009
In 2004, the St. Lucie County Veterans Advisory Council established the "United Veterans of St. Lucie County Veteran Volunteer of the Year" award in order to recognize and honor veteran volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to making a positive difference in the veterans’ community.
Each year, three veterans are seleted for this honor. In January, the name and organization of each veteran is displayed on a vehicle which is placed on one of the United Veterans of St. Lucie County Medical Vans for a period of one year.
The 2009 Veterans Volunteers of the Year recipients are:

Annual Golf Classic -
Open to everyone, the proceeds from this event are used for the purchase of multi-passenger vans used to transport disabled veterans to and from the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.
Veterans in Need -
Donations of food gift cards from local grocery stores are accepted throughout the year, particulary during the winter holiday season.
Treats for Troops -
Donated items are accepted and shipped throughout the year to units currently serving in Iraq and Afaganistan.
Acceptable items include: Music CD's, Movie DVD's, Socks, Instant Coffee/Tea bags, Playing cards, Chap-stick,Phone cards, Wet-wipes, Greeting cards/Stationery, Hand lotion, Shampoo/Conditioner, Hand lotion, Shampoo/Conditioner,Hand sanitizer, Deodorant, Toothpaste/Toothbrush, Hand sanitizer, Deodorant, Dental floss; Wet-wipes, Cup of Soup,
Granola Bars, Nuts/Rasins, Crackers/Cookies, Beef jerky, Dried fruit, Microwave popcorn, Hard candy, Instant Oatmeal.
