Records Retrieval Policy

You may submit your request via the internet, in person, by phone, or by fax.

Please Note: Florida has very broad public records laws. Most written communications to or from County officials regarding County business are public records available to the public and media upon request. It is the policy of St. Lucie County that all County records shall be open for personal inspection, examination and / or copying. Your written or e-mail communications will be subject to public disclosure unless an exemption applies to the communication.

  • If you choose to complete the optional contact information on the Records Retrieval Request Form, Planning staff will contact you when the files are available.  Otherwise we will collect and hold the files for 5 business days in which time you may come into the office to view/copy.
  • If staff anticipates that in order to satisfy this request, "extensive use" of information technology resources or extensive clerical or supervisory assistance as defined in Florida Statute Section 119.07 will be required, we will provide a written estimate in advance of processing this request.
