The St. Lucie County Planning Division oversees current and long range planning functions, including the Towns, Villages, and Countryside (TVC) Special Area Plan, and ensures that land use planning and development occur in a rational and quality manner. Through the review of applications for development and land use plan and zoning amendments, the Planning Division endeavors to achieve and maintain the desired level of service of public facilities concurrent with development.

The Planning Division coordinates the review of all site plan and development review applications through the Development Review Committee (DRC). The DRC is a committee composed of personnel from various public agencies, including Engineering, Public Works, Building & Code Regulation, Environmental Resources, Planning, Property Acquisitions, Utilities, St. Lucie County School Board, Health Department, Fire District, and Sheriff.

The Planning Division also coordinates long range and neighborhood planning studies. Currently under way are the Western Lands Study, being conducted on the approximately 200,000 acres of agricultural land in western St. Lucie County, and the Green Jobs & Innovation Corridor planning charrette for the land in the vicinity of the Treasure Coast Research Park. Information on both of these planning efforts is available through individual links from this page.
