Ordinance 12-003: Waivers, Deferrals & Alternatives
Ordinance 12-003 was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on May 15, 2012 as a means to assist small businesses in getting established or expanding in St. Lucie County by providing for some staff flexibility in certain development requirements. The ordinance allows staff to analyze potential impact of proposed developments and provide for administrative waivers, deferrals or alternatives to standards of development such as parking, paving, uses and landscaping.
The approved ordinance was drafted in response to the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce and the Development Review Task Force that was established in December 2010 to review the development and permitting process to identify impediments to business expansion and start-ups. The Task Force Report, issued in June 2011, outlines the goals that initiated the ordinance and thereby provides context to its intent and purpose.
