Lobbying Efforts

St. Lucie County does not have a state lobbying contract; however, the Board of County Commissioners does have a contract with Van Scoyoc Associates, Inc., located in Washington D.C. to lobby federal legislators on behalf of the County. The current annual contract is in the amount of $54,000.

Our primary consultant is Greg Burns, vice president. The scope of services include: tracking of federal legislation, consulting on federal funding and grant assistance, and working with federal legislators and agency staff on issues important to St. Lucie County. Such issues include:  beach nourishment, inlet dredging, Economic Development Administration capital project funding, and communication with federal agencies pertaining to environmental projects. 

Additionally, St. Lucie County is a member of the Florida Association of Counties, the National Association of Counties, Florida City and County Management Association and the International City/County Management Association.
