Thursday, March 17, 2011 - Juanita Avenue, Taylor Creek Bridge Project To Open March 18

Florida Department of Transportation, in partnership with St. Lucie County, intends to officially open the Taylor Creek Bridge on Juanita Avenue around 5 p.m. on Friday, March 18.

Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and St. Lucie County, this project was constructed over a course of 8 months at a cost of $1.6 million. The project consisted of the construction of a new two-lane bridge with shoulders and accommodations for future sidewalks.

The old bridge decks and concrete piles were delivered to Harbour Pointe Park to be used for St. Lucie County's artificial reef program.  Deployment of these materials is scheduled for this summer.
