Friday, April 2, 2010 - Lawnwood Stadium Hosts Census Cultural Festival April 10Lawnwood Stadium on Virginia Avenue will be the local site of the U.S. Census Cultural Festival on Saturday, April 10 from 3 - 7 p.m.
This free event is in celebration of the national ''March to the Mailbox Blitz Day'' and will feature:
- Free Census Assistance (Be certain to bring your questionnaire with you)
- Children's activities (face painting, bounce house, clowns)
- Live music (American/Caribbean/Spanish)
- Food and refreshments
- Arts and crafts
- Health screening and wellness checkups by the St. Lucie County Health Department
- Games and prizes
- Surprises and more
Lawnwood Stadium is located at 1302 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce. Sponsors for this event include: The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners, Workforce Solutions, the St. Lucie County Health Department, the Haitian Advisory Council, the Latino-America Coalition, the Center for Health, Education and Social Services (CHESS) and Comet Creative. The Census count will impact our community for the next 10 years and is used to determine how much of the $400 billion that is given out each year will come to the area for roads, childcare, schools, transportation, medical care and more. Please turn in your form and Be Counted!
If residents haven't received a Census form or they need assistance in completing the questionnaire, Questionnaire Assistance Centers are located throughout the County. Residents can also come to the Lawnwood Stadium or other area Census events on April 10 to get a form or have help completing it.
