Thursday, December 18, 2008 - Landfill Facility Reduces Operating Hours

Due to the economic downturn and rising operating costs, the St. Lucie County Landfill has reduced its hours of operation.

The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners recently approved the Solid Waste Department's recommendation to reduce the Saturday hours of the Bailing and Recycling Facility to 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. and to close the facility on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day. The landfill will remain open the day after Thanksgiving and on Christmas Eve.
