Wednesday, December 17, 2008 - Cultural Affairs Seeks Nominations For Lucie Awards

The St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Council (CAC) is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the Annual Lucie Awards. The recipients of the Lucie Awards will be recognized at the 5th Annual Lucie Awards Ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 22 from 12:30 - 3 p.m. at the Pelican Yacht Club on South Hutchinson Island.

The Lucie Awards honor St. Lucie County residents that have been instrumental in the arts throughout their life. Past winners have included: Albert Black, Irv Friedman, Leslie Szakacs Stephen P. Torick, Carlos Barrena, Joe Holiday, Zanobia Jefferson and Doris Tillman. To submit a nomination, please send a letter nominating the individual demonstrating their contribution to the arts and a photograph of the nominee to the Cultural Affairs office at 2300 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce, Fla., 34982 by Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Cultural Affairs Council invites the public to celebrate the county's greatest contributors to the arts at the 5th Annual Lucie Awards on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Pelican Yacht Club's Famous Champagne Brunch, located at 1120 Seaway Drive, Fort Pierce. A silent auction will be held during the brunch. Proceeds from the silent auction and the sale of the tickets will help fund St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Council’s mini-grant program. If you are interested in nominating an artist, donating an item for the silent auction or purchasing an advertisement in the souvenir book, please call the Cultural Affairs office at (772) 462-2548.

Tickets to the Lucie Awards Brunch are $40 and only 100 seats are available. Tickets may be purchased at the St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Office, 2300 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce. 

The deadline for the Lucie Awards nominations is Saturday, Jan. 6. The deadline to purchase tickets to awards ceremony and donate silent auctions items is Wednesday, Feb. 18. For more information, please call the Cultural Affairs at (772) 462-2548.
