November 13, 2007 - Conservation Alliance Meeting Nov. 28

The Conservation Alliance will present a video on estuarine health and what we must do in order to maintain our estuary on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at its monthly meeting at the Fort Pierce Library, starting at 7 p.m. The video was produced by Dr. Grant Gilmore for his presentation for the Rivers Coalition.

Dr. R. Grant Gilmore is a senior scientist with Estuarine, Coastal and Ocean Science, Inc., (ECOS). Dr. Gilmore founded ECOS in 2004 after spending 32 years with the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution and Dynamac Corp. at the Kennedy Space Center.

Dr. Gilmore has been studying the fish community and ecology of Florida and Caribbean Sea for the past 35 years. He has published more than 70 technical and popular papers on fish ecology and life history including reproductive habits of spotted sea trout, snook, groupers and sharks.

The scientist has made appearances on 16 national and international television specials including programs on the Discovery Channel and the National Geographic Ocean Science Documentary on the first American research expedition into Cuban waters since the revolution.

The meeting is open to the public and registration is not required. The Fort Pierce Library is located at 101 Melody Lane.
