April 13, 2005 - Veterans' Preference Laws Informational Seminar Scheduled for Friday

The St. Lucie County Human Resources Department will hold an informational meeting regarding Veterans' Preference Laws on Friday, April 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, located at 2300 Virginia Ave. in Fort Pierce. Anyone involved in employment practices and decisions regarding hiring, promotion and reinstatement is encouraged to attend this free seminar.

Facilitator John Burns, Administrator for the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs, will discuss the interpretation and implementation of current and proposed state and federal laws regarding Veterans' Preference in Appointment, Retention and Promotion practices; as well as case laws, including precedent decisions affecting governmental hiring practices.
