June 7, 2005 - Bluefield Ranch Natural Area Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Set
The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Bluefield Ranch Natural Area on Friday June 10, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. Bluefield Ranch Natural Area is a 3,285-acre site located in western St. Lucie County approximately 4.1 miles south of State Road 70 on Bluefield Road.The site was purchased by St. Lucie County’s Environmentally Significant Lands Program and Florida Communities Trust. This site contains a mosaic of natural habitats including scrub, scrubby flatwoods, baygall and prairie flatwoods, wet prairie, dry prairie and depression marsh. This variety of natural habitats supports a diverse population of wildlife and plant species, including 13 federally listed animal species, and three federally endangered and two threatened plant species.
