June 13, 2005 - Indian River Drive Revegetation Project Begins

Planting for the Indian River Drive Phase II Revegetation Project began today along the shoreline in front of the County's Walton Scrub Natural Area at 10809 South Indian River Drive. This area is being used as a public demonstration site so that the residents have the opportunity to see what the finished project will look like if they chose to participate in this program or if they are still considering whether or not to participate. It should take about a week to finish the 2,300 linear feet of shoreline in front of the Walton Scrub House. After that, crews will work north and south from the Walton Scrub site.

Residents of Indian River Drive may still sign the license agreement to participate in the Phase II Revegetation Project. All license agreements should be returned to the County no later than July 15, 2005. This date was chosen because some of the plants being used for this project have to be grown in order to meet the numbers and specifications of the planting plan. License agreements received after this date cannot be considered. The license agreement can be downloaded from the County's Environmental Resources Division website at http://co.st-lucie.fl.us/erd/ird/index.htm or by calling Vanessa Bessey at (772) 462-2526.
