January 26, 2006 - Indian River Drive Set to Re-Open to the Public in Two Phases

Indian River Drive, which has been closed for major repair after the hurricanes of 2004, is scheduled to reopen in two phases beginning February 1, 2006. The first section to open to the public will be from Midway Road north to Fort Pierce (with the exception of the portion of the road the City of Fort Pierce is repairing from Atlantic Avenue to Citrus Avenue). The second section, from Midway Road south to the Martin County line, will reopen at the beginning of March. The section that will remain closed to the public in February will have construction vehicles making repairs to drainage discharge areas. Once those repairs are made, that portion of the road will be resurfaced by the County’s Road and Bridge crew. For more information, call (772) 462-1791.
