February 16, 2006 - Libraries Offering Community Programs

The St. Lucie County chapter of the American Association of Retired People (AARP) is offering tax preparation assistance for low to moderate income individuals of all ages at three St. Lucie County libraries. Individuals should be prepared to supply the volunteer tax preparers with last year's tax return, their 2005 tax papers, Social Security cards and a photo ID. The AARP will be at the following locations: Downtown Fort Pierce Library, 101 Melody Lane - 9 a.m. to noon, Monday-Friday and 1-4 p.m. on Sundays; Morningside Library, 2410 S.E. Morningside Blvd, Port St. Lucie - 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday-Friday; and Lakewood Park Branch Library, 7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Fort Pierce - 5-8 p.m. on Monday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday.

Additionally, the American Red Cross and the St. Lucie County Library System is offering Babysitter's Training for individuals ages 11-15 at the following locations and dates: Downtown Fort Pierce - February 25 and March 25; Lakewood Park Branch - May 20; and Morningside Branch - June 17. All classes are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and participants need to bring their own lunch and snacks. All participants will receive an American Red Cross Certificate Card.
