March 30, 2006 - Parks and Recreation Offering Start Smart T-Ball & Soccer Programs

The St. Lucie County Parks and Recreation Department is offering two new sports programs for children ages 3 to 6.

The Start Smart T-ball program begins on Saturday, April 15 at 9 a.m. at the Lakewood Park Sports Complex. The program runs for six weeks and the cost is $40 per player. Each player receives a shirt, tee-ball, bat and glove. Parents receive an instructional booklet to help the "little slugger" along.

The Start Smart Soccer program begins on Saturday, May 27 at 9 a.m. at Maravilla Park, located on Oleander Avenue in Fort Pierce. The program runs for six weeks and the cost is $40 per player. Each player receives a shirt, soccer ball and shin guards. This program provides an opportunity for children to learn the skills of soccer including an introduction to dribbling, passing, shooting and proper footwork.
