May 5, 2006 - Downtown Fort Pierce Library to Host Hurricane Preparedness Programs
June is "hurricane preparedness month" at the Fort Pierce Library and the Library will present a series of free programs to help residents "weather the storm season!" All of the programs will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the downtown Fort Pierce Library located at 101 Melody Lane.June 7 - "Things You Need to Know" presented by the St. Lucie County Emergency Management Team - information on how to survive before, during and after a hurricane, county information, important phone numbers and evacuation procedures
June 8 - "Your House, Your Family and You" presented by Karla Lenfesty from The Hurricane House - how to prepare a family disaster plan, protect your house and valuables, understand insurance forms and important phone numbers
June 14 - "Prepare Now!" presented by The American Red Cross - how to prepare a family disaster plan, build a disaster kit and a checklist to follow before it is too late
June 15 - "What the Heck is a Hurricane?" presented by Mike Lyons, WPBF News 25 Chief Weather Specialist - learn details on what a hurricane is, how it forms, what the categories mean, how to prepare and more
June 22 - "Animals and Hurricanes" presented by the St. Lucie County Humane Society - animal safety and preparedness
