May 8, 2006 - Free Admission to the St. Lucie County Historical Museum for International Museum Day

Celebrate International Museum Day on Thursday, May 18th and enjoy free admission to the St. Lucie County Historical Museum. The Museum, located at 414 Seaway Drive on Museum Pointe in Fort Pierce, is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

In the spirit of this year's theme, "Museums and Young People," the Historical Museum especially invites children, families and the young at heart to visit the Museum to discover the Treasure Coast's fascinating cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the cultures of the ancient Ais Indians, Spanish explorers, Seminole Indians and Pioneers and also visit the 1908 Gardner House and an early 1900s general store.

International Museum Day, celebrated worldwide since 1977, highlights the role of museums in providing cultural exchange and enrichment for audiences of all social, cultural and political backgrounds.
