World Oceans Day is Thursday, June 8, 2006 and the Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit is celebrating! Whether you're more fish than human or a proud landlubber, EVERYONE is connected to the sea. We play in it, feed from it, work on it, breathe because of it - what better reasons can you think of to celebrate the world's oceans? Come to the St. Lucie County Marine Center on June 8th from 10:00am - 4:00pm and enjoy learning stations, crafts and other activities all centered around the Earth's indispensable marine resources. Admission is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children. The Smithsonian Marine Station has teamed with St. Lucie County and other community partners to create this unique educational facility. The Ecosystems Exhibit is an outreach effort of the Smithsonian Marine Station, a branch of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History. A fixture in the Fort Pierce community for over 30 years, the Marine Station is dedicated to understanding the character and diversity of the marine and estuarine habitats of Florida.
