June 29, 2006 - Morningside Branch Library Presents the "Festival of Culture"

Morningside Branch Library, located at 2410 Morningside Blvd. in Port St. Lucie, in partnership with Hispanics in Action, Inc., will host the "Festival of Culture" on Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free, day-long event features Latin music, arts and culture. Guests may enjoy folk and Flamenco dances, poetry and song, guitar and clarinet solos, presentations on health and fitness and more.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Ms. Mary Dodge, a seasoned-traveler and photographer, presents her video on beautiful birds from Central and South America. Guests may take in a poetry reading by Ana M. Prado from Venezuela and listen to health and fitness tips from Lydi Pallares, a U.S. National Gold Medal winner and marathon runner. Dance with Theresa, an 84-year-old Latin dance teacher with the energy of a teenager and experience Colombian folk dance with Mitzy Merchan and Edgar Diaz. Roberta Linares, director of Zayda Dance, will dance tap Flamenco. Translation is available by Gloria Recco.
