July 10, 2006 - St. Lucie County Wildfire Taks Force Lifts Countywide Burn Ban

Fort Pierce - July 10, 2006 - After more than two months of dry weather, St. Lucie County's drought index has dropped below 500. As a result, St. Lucie County, in conjunction with the Division of Forestry and the St. Lucie County Fire District, has lifted the countywide burn ban until further notice.

Today's drought index is 495. Officials will continue to monitor St. Lucie County's drought index on a weekly basis, and consider reinstating the burn ban if the drought index begins to rise above the 500 mark.
