Ten Mile Creek Preserve

The site was purchased to protect the shoreline of Ten Mile Creek and provide recreational access.

Size: 8 acres
Habitat: Floodplain forest and floodplain swamp along Ten Mile Creek, a tributary of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River.  Excellent examples of hammock hickory (carya aquatica).
Trails: A short self-guiding interpretive trail guides visitors through the floodplain forest with excellent views into the historic oxbows.
Other Improvements: Canoe launch and boardwalks.
Commonly Seen Wildlife: Alligator, black vulture, turkey vulture, herons, egrets and ibis.
Location:

3401 Gordy Road, Ft. Pierce.  From the intersection of the Florida Turnpike and SR 70, go west and take the first road on the left.  The parking lot will be on your right (0.8 miles).

Notes:

A canoe trail is planned in the near future that will lead canoers/kayakers through the historic oxbows of Ten Mile Creek.
