Cooperative Extension Agricultural Programs & Services
The Cooperative Extension and Environmental Education Division include UF/IFAS Cooperative Extension and the Oxbow Eco-Center. Both organizations are focused on providing education, training and assistance to the citizens of St. Lucie County. The Oxbow Eco-Center is an environmental learning facility located on a 225-acre preserve on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. The Center houses an Exhibit Hall,
Discovery Room and Gift Shop. The exhibit takes you on an underwater journey down the St. Lucie Estuary and its array of fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals. The Discovery Room contains live animals and books were visitors can learn more about the wildlife in the area. The preserve contains several miles of hiking trails and boardwalks which lead to the river and back. The Oxbow Eco-center also offers nature programs, school field trips, a homeschool corner and tips on sustainable living.
