All residents are encouraged to register for assistance, even if they do not see immediate damage, as once the deadline passes – residents will not be able to file for or receive assistance after the fact.  

St. Lucie County is partnering with community organizations and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to open a Disaster Assistance Center at the Havert L. Fenn Center, 2000 Virginia Ave., to help residents and businesses with unmet needs following Hurricane Irma.

The Disaster Assistance Center is scheduled to open Tuesday, Sept. 26 through Thursday, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. This one-stop hub allows residents to register with FEMA for assistance.  Residents who have registered with FEMA and have had difficulty obtaining services may also follow up at the center.  Additionally, local community organizations and businesses will be onsite to help with community with other unmet needs. 

FEMA representatives are out in communities encouraging residents to register for assistance; however, residents should be cautious of scammers and fake representatives. All FEMA workers will carry an official FEMA photo/ID – residents shouldn’t hesitate to ask for identification. If residents see fraudulent representatives or suspicious activity, call 911 or the FEMA Fraud Hotline at 866-720-5721.

Most county parks, preserves and mosquito impoundments still have debris cleanup efforts underway, so residents are asked to refrain from visiting outdoor attractions, until they have been cleared. 

Damage Reports

St. Lucie County residents can now report storm and flooding damage to their homes and businesses using the My St. Lucie Mobile App. Within the app simply select the "Storm Damage" request type or access it on the website: www.stlucieco.gov/mystlucie.

The My St. Lucie app allows residents to easily submit requests for services; ask questions or request public records. Directly through the app, residents can take a photograph of a problem area such as a pothole or flooded street and send that image and location to St. Lucie County to be properly routed to the correct department for processing. After submitting requests, residents can use the mobile app to track the status of their request.

Business Damage Reports

  • St. Lucie County local businesses impacted by Hurricane Irma are asked to complete the Florida Virtual Business Emergency Operations Center "Hurricane Irma Survey.” This survey will assist local and state governments in learning the impacts to our business community and expedite resources available to you and your employees to get your business back up and running and your employees back to work.   • St. Lucie West Career Center, 584 NW University Blvd.-Suite 300 in Port St. Lucie, will open Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 8 a.m. The staff will be able to assist St. Lucie County residents who might need assistance with Emergency Unemployment or other services offered by the Career Center including job placement.

Donations

  • St. Lucie County is accepting donations, in cooperation with Mustard Seed to help with Hurricane Irma efforts. Donations can be delivered to Mustard Seed, 3130 S US 1 in Fort Pierce, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Supplies that are needed include:
  • Diapers (all sizes)
  • Wipes
  • Water
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Buckets
  • Baby food/formula
  • The United Way of St. Lucie County is accepting monetary donations to help with Hurricane Irma relief efforts.  At this time donations can be made at www.unitedwayslc.org. For further information, call 772-464-5300. 

Garbage/Debris Pick Up

  • Vegetative debris pick up began on Sept. 18, including in private/gated communities. Crews estimate the pick up will take roughly 60 days. Residents cleaning up vegetative debris should stack debris in their yard and not the road. Also, do not stack debris near/in front of fire hydrants or utility poles or place vegetative debris in bags. Furthermore, be sure to separate yard/vegetative debris from household waste and refuse.
  • When hiring someone to handle home repairs, remember to only use licensed contractors and be aware of scammers or predators that may be in our neighborhoods looking for an easy opportunity. For a list of licensed contractors check your city or county website or with the Treasure Coast Builders Association for a list of reputable and licensed contractors.

St. Lucie County’s Community Services Department is ready to start mobilizing volunteers looking to assist with the cleanup of Hurricane Irma. Tarps for PSL Residents 

Beginning Monday, Sept. 25, the City of Port St. Lucie will distribute tarps from the Public Works office, 450 SW Thornhill Drive. Residents will be able to pick up a tarp between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m, Monday to Friday. Please bring an ID to prove you are a residents of Port St. Lucie. You will also be required to sign an acknowledgement form for tarps. For more details contact Port St. Lucie Public Works at 772-871-5100.

 
Cleanup 
  • From now through Sept. 30, call the number below for help with home cleanup. As they are able, reputable and vetted relief agencies may assist you and your neighbors cut fallen trees, remove drywall, insulation, flooring, furniture, appliances, tarp roofs, etc. All services are free, but service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming need.

    Importantly, this hotline CANNOT assist with social services such as food, clothing, shelter, insurance, or questions about FEMA registration. Volunteers work free of charge and provide the tools and equipment necessary to complete the work. To request help:
