Launchpads are here!

All St. Lucie County Library branches now have Playaway Launchpads, learning-centered tablets for kids available for checkout. Each Launchpad is custom-curated with a high-quality, ad-free application collection grouped by age, grade level, subject area and theme. Subject collections include English language arts, math, science, language learning, critical thinking and creativity. Themed collections include princesses, animals, transportation, dinosaurs, space and more. Each pack has at least 10 apps pre-loaded for learning and fun.

Each Library branch has 14 tablets in the age ranges of 3 to 5 and 5 to 7.  Fort Pierce and Morningside branches each have one tablet in Spanish: “F – Si! Yes! Si! “ and “M – Uno! Dos! Tres!”  Port St Lucie has one for English as a second language, “See. Hear. Say.” Hurston has a tablet called “Talk of the world!” which covers the basics in many languages including Spanish, Cantonese, Japanese, Chinese, German and Russian. Morningside also has a tablet geared for children on the Autism Spectrum, “Just for me.”

Each Launchpad has a 7” high-definition touch-screen, protective bumpers to ensure durability and each grip, an external speaker and a USB/AC power adapter for easy charging.

Launchpads check out for 7 days with 1 renewal if no one else is waiting for one. Overdue fines are $1 per day. Only 1 Launchpad can be checked out per card, and only to adult card-holders.
