Cooperative Extension
The St. Lucie County Cooperative Extension Offi ce provides assistance in St. Lucie County in several areas: Agribusiness, 4-H, Natural Resources and Energy Conservation, Family and Consumer Sciences, Financial Management, Growth Management, Windstorm Mitigation, Marine Science, Commercial and Homeowner Horticulture and Commercial Citrus Production. The staff consists of seven extension agents, one multi-county agent housed in Martin County, fi ve full-time program specialists, one executive assistant, five staff assistants and a maintenance technician. The continued cooperative effort between the Extension Offi ce and the St. Lucie County School Board includes an agriscience instructor/leader and a vocational agricultural technician. The Department has 75 Master Gardeners that volunteered 11,311 hours addressing homeowners' concerns and 2,065 adult volunteers that play a role in the St. Lucie County 4-H program reaching more than 24,500 youth in St. Lucie County.
