District 4: Charles Grande

Commissioner Charles GrandeCommissioner Charles Grande was born and raised in New York City. He studied economics at CUNY and studied computer systems analysis, design and programming at IBM. He served honorably in the US Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk.

His business career includes VP of Computer Systems positions at both Bankers Trust in NY and Sallie Mae in Washington, DC. He also worked with Ross Perot at EDS and is a cofounder of Automated Business Systems, Inc.

Prior to election to the County Commission in 2006, Commissioner Grande served for eight years on the Planning & Zoning Commission. Other county service includes appointments to the Blueway Advisory Committee, the Citizens Comprehensive Plan Study Group, and the Overall Economic Development Planning and CEDS Committees of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council.

Volunteer civic participation includes board positions on The Rivers Coalition, The Conservation Alliance, The Marine Resources Council, The Treasure Coast Environmental Defense Fund, The South Beach Association and The Presidents Council. Commissioner Grande also has active memberships in The American Legion, MENSA, The Waterfront Council and The United Way for Animals.

Commissioner Grande is married to Emily and they have two children and five grandchildren. They bought their "beach" home on Hutchinson Island in 1989 and recently established residency in The Reserve at PGA.
