Park Information

This dog-friendly park has a two-mile trail located along the perimeter of a 111-acre upland and wetland preserve. Along the trails, hikers will find an observation platform and a 52-foot boardwalk/fishing pier.

Additional Information Trails: A 2 mile trail is located along the impoundment dike.
Habitat: Primarily impounded mangrove swamp.
Commonly seen wildlife: Herons, ibis, egrets, osprey and pelicans
Historical Interest The old Fort Pierce Inlet was historically located adjacent to the site, but was filled in when the New inlet was dug.  The cove was presumably named after the presence of the multitude of bobcat and panther that inhabited the island.
