The
Property Acquisitions Division reviews site plans and future
developments regarding right-of-way dedications, the processing of
abandonment applications and reviewing utility permits. Street
names and name changes, as well as license agreements are also
handled by the Acquisition Division. Significant time is spent
responding to questions from the public, other governmental
entities, as well as other county departments regarding county
owned properties and right-of-way. Over 375 Tax Deed Applications
have been processed this year. The acquisition staff have assisted
the County Attorney in the purchase of the South County Regional
Stadium and the addition for Heathcote Botanical Gardens.
During
2000, the Property Acquisition Division completed several major
projects, including the acquisition of right-of-way and easements
for several Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU) projects. The
property was also acquired for the last pond site in the final
phase of the 25th Street/St. James Drive project. This now
completes the project from Midway Road to Edwards Road. Four of
the five parcels have been purchased for the joint St. Lucie
County/Port St. Lucie Hidden River drainage project. The staff is
currently working on the Glades Road and Midway Road intersection
improvement which will also benefit Port St. Lucie. |
