The Human Resources
Department serves a work force of 1,000+ (approximately 700
full-time employees and 300 part-time contractual, seasonal and
temporary workers).
The Human Resources
Department also represents the St. Lucie County Board of County
Commissioners as a spokesperson in collective bargaining, and
provides risk management services to an additional 200+ personnel
employed by St. Lucie County’s other elected officials and a
collection of other administrative agencies.
The major programs
the department has undertaken in 2000 are the development and
introduction of a comprehensive supervisory training program; a
employee climate survey; the Safety Handbook and Health Insurance
Handbook; a compensation and classification study; successful
negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement; streamlined claim
reporting and follow-up on exposure to losses.
The Department is
committed to provide the St. Lucie County Board of County
Commissioners with employment and Risk Management services that are
professional, responsive to business and operational needs, and cost
effective.
